Creatively ...Using Wordle.net

I know that Wordle has been popularized by many but I thought my back-to-school lesson with students went very well this week and feel like it's one worth sharing. First, I had students to to create Name Poems by typing their names vertically using MS Word. Then, they were to type an adjective to describe themselves that begins with each letter in their name in the document. Finally, students were asked to copy and paste their poems into Wordle and then type their name three times below. The result was that their name printed out larger than the other words to form a word cloud describing themselves! I posted the final product on the bulletin board outside my classroom for all to see.

Free Online Scientific Calculator!

This one is pretty self explanatory... quite handy for those calculations on the go!

Read a book, have a conversation!

I recently stumbled upon this site book glutton.com that allows you to read online books for free while having a conversation at anytime with others. After registering for the site you can read a book alone or use the talk feature which allows you choose to talk to people who are reading the same page in the book as you. Pretty neat!
